The Katikkiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga has urged African leaders to stop constantly reminding their citizens about the injustices committed by colonial rulers, saying such narratives often weigh down people’s spirits and hinder national development.
While speaking during the 25th anniversary celebrations of Stena Schools in Makindye-Lukuli an institution founded by Christopher Bwanika Mayiga emphasized the need for a forward-looking approach.
“African leaders should avoid repeatedly reminding their people about the atrocities committed by colonialists. Instead, they should focus on practical ways of transforming their countries and improving the livelihoods of their citizens,” Mayiga said.
He added that countries which have developed did so by concentrating on progress rather than dwelling on past injustices.
“If leaders adopt a development-focused mindset, it will greatly help nations to grow and uplift their people,” he noted.

“Without education, challenges such as poverty, disease, and ignorance cannot be overcome,” he said.
